SEO As a Marketing Tool
I never look just at the technical side of SEO. I review the client’s goals, understand how those goals impact the marketing of the site, and then provide focused recommendations that reflect business and marketing goals. This approach can lead to sharpening of existing efforts as well as the identification of new opportunities, affecting everything from keyword selection and emphasis to link building efforts.

Transparent SEO
Everything I do for a client is discussed and agreed to ahead of time. Nothing happens without a client’s knowledge.

Partnership and Dedication
I work closely with you to understand your company, your category, and your site’s successes, failures and needs.

The result: Sharper SEO strategies, practical recommendations, and a greater chance for success.

Straight Talk, Open Communication
I’ll answer any question. If there’s something you want to know or understand about a proposal, I’ll explain…in detail if you like. As far as I’m concerned, sharing information is part of being a good partner.

What You Need, Not What You Don’t
I don’t work “one way.” I work in whatever way you need, customized to your situation. Think of me as an outsourced SEO department, ready to help.

Social Media
Social Media is the new frontier of web traffic. SEO nowadays is more than just optimizing a website. SEO is about driving quality traffic to a website, and has branched out into Social Media. Sure there are Social Media consultants. But, many people that are well-versed in SEO, have jumped on the social media bandwagon. Many SEO’s are early adopters, and they have been on the social networks for a long time, and have built strong profiles. It is simply about driving traffic from social networks.

But, lets keep something in mind. SEO has been and is still about driving high quality visitors, from Search Engines, that convert. That’s the difference between a Social Media and SEO Consultant.

Web Usability
SEO Consultants look at websites differently than does a web designer or an advertising agency. SEO people tend to browse a site trying to analyze how search engine friendly the site is, AND how user-friendly it is.

Web Analytics

Part of SEO consulting is measuring traffic, share of market, analyzing clickstreams, path analysis, A-B Split tests, conversion funnels, etc.

6) Driving traffic from related websites.
7) Driving traffic from all sources, regardless whether they are online or offline (newspaper, radio, magazine ad, Word of Mouth, conferences, billboards, taxi cabs, mass transit, etc.)
8 ) SEO Audit : What are you doing well & what are you doing poorly.
9) Competitive Analysis: Getting insight on the competition. What are they doing well or poorly at, and how to beat them out.
10) Brand Awareness or Mindshare
11) Measuring and Analyzing web traffic.
12) Reviewing the website usability, and if there are any obstacles to conversions.
13) Reputation Management

Defining SEO

SEO is using various strategies & tactics to drive traffic to a website, working with the website owner or their marketing team to ensure that traffic converts, and then measuring the revenue generated from those efforts which if done correctly, will generate a quick ROI.

Simplifying Your Internet Profits and Processes

The INPROFIT ratio is the most important ratio that you need to

know to determine the health of your entire Internet operation.

It incorporates factors related to your internet versus total

revenues, a valuation for traffic, total customer acquisition

costs, support costs, earnings per visitor (EPV) in a complex

but extremely helpful equation.

The INPROFIT ratio is being successfully used by CTO, CIO, CFO

and CEO to better manage internet profits within the

enterprise.

Since more traffic is not always better, we integrated the

EPV (earnings per

visitor) into the traffic equation. This way if a site receives

a

million visitors but only earns $0.02 for each of them then

they are

equal to a firm who makes $2.00 per visitor but yet only

receives

10,000 visitors.

Thus it links the quality of your traffic and your operating

costs. If you’re spending more in marketing, advertising, SEO,

etc. to receive that traffic then you’re actually earning in

revenues then this will reduce your revenue valuation.

similarly there are many others variables that go into a the

INPROFIT ratio, but it creates an apples to apples comparison

and a unique benchmark that can be used as a starting point for

comparative purposes, even as your business changes and

expands.

How to Get Indexed by Search Engines

Tuesday, July 1st, 2008

The leading search engines, Google, Yahoo! and

MSN Live, use crawlers to find the pages for

their algorithmic search results. Pages that

are already linked from another search engine’s

indexed pages do not need to be re-submitted

because they will be found automatically. Some

search engines, notably Yahoo!, operate a paid

directory submission service that guarantee

crawling for either a set fee or cost per

click. Such programs usually guarantee quicker

inclusion in the database, but do not guarantee

any specific ranking within the search results,

just that your site will be indexed.

Yahoo’s paid inclusion program has drawn much

criticism from both advertisers and

competitors. Two major directories, the Yahoo

Directory and the Open Directory Project both

require manual submission and human editorial

reviews before being accepted. Google offers

Google Webmaster Tools, to which an XML Sitemap

file can be created and submitted for free

online to ensure that all pages are found,

especially pages that aren’t easily

discoverable by automatically following links

between pages, such as dynamic content.

Search engine crawlers (or robots) take

into account a variety of different factors

when crawling a site. Not every page is added

or indexed by the search engines. Distance of

pages (depth) from the root directory of a site

may also be a factor in whether or not pages

get crawled and indexed.
